Samsung Galaxy S7 To Have Spectacular Video Capabilities

With the Galaxy S7 due for release in the next few weeks, at least according to the general consensus of opinion, it is not surprising that more information is seeping out about this flagship smartphone. And the latest snippet of data that has emerged regarding this forthcoming mobile release is the suggestion that the Galaxy S7 will deliver some pretty spectacular video-related performance.

The Galaxy S7 is largely expected to be unveiled at the Mobile World Congress, which begins this year in Barcelona on February 22. Considering this expectation, it is extremely likely that Samsung has largely finalized the features that will appear in the Galaxy S7 internally.

Samsung Galaxy S7 vast video capacity

And with this in mind, Eldar Murtazin, who has an excellent record of predicting smartphone features, functions and specs in the past, has suggested that the next Samsung flagship will be capable of over 17 hours of continuous video playback. Not only will this smartphone have outstanding video capabilities, but it will also deliver this 17 hour quotient at what is it described as "full brightness". Although this term can often be left open to interpretation, it certainly suggests that the Galaxy S7 will be an outstanding video producer.

It is not clear how Murtazin was able to acquire this information, but it should certainly be taken seriously considering his track record.

With regard to the 17 hours figure, it is important to note that this number is based on whatever methodology Samsung utilizes in order to rate its own smartphones. There can often be a divergence between such figures and that which people experience in the real world. But what we can do is compare the existing Galaxy S range to the figures suggested by Murtazin, and this enables us to see that the 17 hours figure becomes rather plausible.

Past performance

The Galaxy S6 is rated at 13 hours of video playback according to Samsung figures, while the Korean corporation ranks the recent Galaxy Note 5 at 15 hours. This means that 17 hours of video is certainly feasible, even though it does represent a significant percentage increase over the last generation mobile. With Samsung also likely to increase the battery size of the Galaxy S7 somewhat over its predecessor, achieving this level of video output is certainly possible.

Other factors that could also contribute to stellar video performance are improved and more efficient Super AMOLED display technology, and an improved Exynos 8000-series processor. It is important to note, though, that it has been widely reported that Samsung will revert to the Qualcomm Snapdragon in the Western marketplace for this next generation handset, so it will be interesting to see whether this leads to performance deficits in this version of the mobile.

Samsung is also expected to bump up the RAM in a Galaxy S7 to 4GB, while further optimized TouchWiz under Android 6.0 Marshmallow, could have contribute to the improvement of video performance.

Spec leak

While many people are still wondering precisely what will be included in the Galaxy S7, there has already been a massive clue widely distributed among the media. An image from a Samsung event, taken by what is claimed to be a Samsung employee, has seemingly leaked many of the specifications for this device well ahead of schedule.

So it is expected that Samsung will retain the Quad HD display that was included in the current generation of Galaxy S6 based on this image. This may be something of a disappointment for fans of Android devices, as it was hoped at one time that Samson could possibly increase the resolution of the device to 4K. This claim was particularly intensified by the fact that Sony recently enabled its Xperia Z5 with 4K capabilities, and the ultra-high definition technology is rapidly becoming more mainstream.

However, it is still expected that Samsung will delay Introducing 4Kresolution into its smartphone range until the release of the Galaxy Note 6 later this year. The tablet series has become associated with high-spec performance, and it seems the ideal platform for Samsung to test out this demanding new screen resolution.

The leaked image also indicated that Samsung will produce a 5.1-inch model of the Galaxy S7 when it is ultimately released. This would suggest that the size of the display will also be frozen from previous device releases. This contradicts previous reports which suggested that Apple would slightly increase the size of the display.

BRITECELL coming

Also included in the image is the suggestion that Samsung will arm the Galaxy S7 with a 12-megapixel camera, and that indeed the innovative BRITECELL technology will be included. This new system that Samsung is adopting for the Galaxy S7 will enable low-light shooting in the smartphone to be significantly improved from previous iterations. This is why Samsung has been seemingly willing to lower the megapixel rating of the Galaxy S7, as addressing the perennial problem of photography in darker conditions could take the Galaxy S7 camera to the next level.

Elsewhere, 4GB of RAM and both the Snapdragon 820 and the Exynos 8890 chips are mentioned in relation to the device, confirming many of the expectations of analysts and industry critics.

Samsung will have high expectations of the Galaxy S7 as it attempts to resurrect its reputation in the smartphone marketplace. Although the Korean company still generates vast amounts of revenue, its profits have tumbled over the last couple of years, and the hierarchy of the company has even admitted publicly that it has made mistakes with its product range.

With Samsung being squeezed from multiple directions, Samsung certainly faces short to medium-term challenges. Samsung has struggled to compete with Apple and the iPhone, which has dominated the premium marketplace, and is also being impacted upon by affordable Android variants from companies such as Huawei and Lenovo.

Still considered by many to be the definitive Android smartphone, hopefully the Galaxy S7 can get the Galaxy S series back on track with the expectations of its manufacturer.

Galaxy S7 vs. LG G5 – Which Android Smartphone Would You Choose?

Smartphone consumers looking for a new device in the early months of 2016 will have several new handsets to choose from, but two of the biggest releases will be the Samsung Galaxy S7 and the LG G5. Both of these smartphones are expected to be launched at the upcoming Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, with this huge trade show this year commencing on February 22.

With this date just two weeks away, the anticipation for the two devices is massive. And both companies may see something of an opportunity, considering that Apple has announced that iPhone sales will decline for the first time ever in 2016. On the other hand, this is more indicative of the fact that the smartphone niche is becoming increasingly competitive, and both Samsung and LG will face challenges in significantly increasing market share.

It is also largely expected that Apple will unveil a new iPhone in the early months of 2016, although this will not be the fully fledged iPhone 7. Instead, It is anticipated that the consumer electronics giant will produce a smaller version of the iPhone, possibly to be dubbed the iPhone 6C.

With Apple not releasing a premium device in the early months of 2016, the Galaxy S7 and the LG G5 are the two big releases of this period. Neither LG nor Samsung has revealed any significant details about their respective flagship smartphones, but a good deal of information has seeped out from close to their supply chains. So which of the two smartphones is shaping up to be the superior device at this point in time, and which one should consumers choose when they are both released?

Samsung Galaxy S7 concept Jermaine Smit

Galaxy S7 vs LG G5 – Display

Samsung is particularly associated with high quality display technology, particularly since it became the largest seller of television sets back in 2008. and arguably its OLED technology has led the way in the smartphone niche as well. But the LG G range is perhaps a little unheralded in this department, and numerous publications have named LG releases as being the outstanding smartphone of previous calendar years.

Thus, it is interesting to note that the rumor mill suggest that the LG G5 may be slightly superior to the Galaxy S7 in this department. It is expected that the Samsung offering will feature a 5.1-inch display with a resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 pixels. This will be somewhat inferior to the LG G5, which could feature a 5.5-inch screen with true 4K resolution.

At one time the Galaxy S7 was being linked with 4K capabilities, particularly since Sony armed the Xperia Z5 with this resolution. But this suggestion has dampened down in recent months, indicating that the LG G5 may very well have an advantage over the Galaxy S7 in screen capabilities.

If the LG G5 features a screen resolution of 3,840 x 2,160 pixels then the pixels per inch rating of the smartphones will be relatively similar, but there is no doubt that the LG G5 that will have the superior display of the two.

Advantage: LG G5

Processor and RAM

Although Samsung utilized an Exynos processor in the Galaxy S6, there have been murmurings that the Korean corporation will revert back to its previous policy of using different processors for different geographical regions in this smartphone generation. This could mean that both the Galaxy S7 and the LG G5 will run off the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor in the West. Additionally, it is anticipated that both phones will be armed with 4GB of RAM. It is therefore difficult to separate the two contenders in this department.

Advantage: Neither

Storage

It is anticipated that both the Galaxy S7 and LG G5 will be made available in 32GB, 64GB and 128GB storage options. If one is looking for a difference between the two devices, it could very much come in the shape of microSD storage. The last generation LG G4 came complete with a micro SD card slot which enabled users to expand storage to 2TB. It seems extremely likely that LG will retain this feature for the G5, and possibly it may consider even increasing the storage capacity of the micro SD feature.

There will be pressure therefore on Samsung to reinstate the micro SD card slot when the Galaxy S7 is released. There is no doubt that many Samsung fans bemoaned the absence of this feature when the Korean corporation removed it from the Galaxy S series. It has certainly been rumored in the build up to the release of the Galaxy S7 that Samsung will indeed include a micro SD slot in the Galaxy S7, but it is doubtful that users of the Android device will be able to store as much as 2TB of data.

Advantage: LG G5

LG G5

Camera

When looking at the raw data in this department, one's initial reaction could be to assume that the LG G5 is superior. Certainly it is expected that the LG offering will have a 20-megapixel rear-facing camera, and an early leaked picture of the device suggests that dual-cameras will also be a feature. By contrast, the 12-megapixel lens that is being linked with the Galaxy S7 naturally sounds inferior to its rival.

However, it is anticipated that Samsung will include its innovative BRITECELL technology in the Galaxy S7, which promises to produce photography in mobile devices in low-light conditions that set new standards for the industry. Considering the strong package that Samsung already has with outstanding optical image stabilization, and arguably the Galaxy S7 camera could be a standout smartphone device of 2016.

Advantage: Galaxy S7

Battery

The Galaxy S7 is expected to be armed with a 3,000mAh battery, while the LG G5 may come with a larger 4,000mAh battery. Quite simple to deduce that the LG G5 will have the edge here.

Advantage: LG G5

Operating System

Both the smartphones are expected to be powered by the Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system.

Advantage: Neither

Fingerprint Scanner and Eye Scanner

It has been particularly strongly rumored that the Galaxy S7 will incorporate a fingerprint and iris scanner. LG is reported to be working with IRIENCE to deliver similar technology, so at the time of writing it seems probable that both smartphones will offer similar features.

Advantage: Neither

Conclusion

The LG G range remains unloved in commercial terms, yet critics are well aware that it is an outstanding smartphone series. Previous releases have been lauded by experts, and the LG G5 looks to be another extremely solid offering. It's almost a certainty that the Galaxy S7 will outsell the LG handset, but the LG G5 seems to have the spec edge ahead of the release of the two devices.

Samsung is all set to unveil its upcoming flagship smartphones, the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge, at MWC 2016 next month. The smartphones are expected to come in two chipset variants running on Snapdragon 820 and Exynos 8890, which will be dependent on individual market requirement. While we've already come across benchmark scores of Exynos 8890 taking on Huawei's Kirin 950 processor, the Galaxy S7 powered by Snapdragon 820 recently passed through Geekbench 3, giving a clear idea of how it performs against its competitors.

In multi-core performance (quad-core), the Snapdragon 820 variant loses to Exynos, but in single-core test it logged a score of 2,282 compared to 1,873 of the Exynos 8890 chipset. It is important to note, as the smartphone isn't running the final software yet, the scores may change later.

Samsung Galaxy S7 specifications and features: The Galaxy S7-family are expected to feature 5.1-inch and 5.5-inch QHD displays with Apple's 3D-Touch like technology, fingerprint scanner and an iris scanner. It is believed to be powered by either Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820 chipset or Samsung's Exynos 8 Octa 8890 SoC, paired with 4GB of RAM, 32GB or 64GB internal storage options. The microSD card slot is also set to make its comeback.

    Lava V5 smartphone’s first impressions

NEW DELHI: The Indian smartphone maker Lava today launched its flagship smartphone V5 priced at Rs 11,499. The handset comes with some high-end specifications and promises to offer great camera experience to the users. Lava V5 4G comes with a 5.5-inch HD display 720X1280 pixels resolution. The smartphone flaunts a 13MP rear camera with dual tone flash and an 8MP front snapper with wide lens and flash. We spent some time with the phone to see whether it's worth the price or not...

    Design

The Lava V5 scores well in the design department. The phone is sleek and light despite the big screen size of 5.5-inch. The handset consists of curved edges surrounded by a metal rim which gives it a premium look and feel. The front panel houses an 8MP camera with LED flash for clicking selfies (even in low light conditions) and three capacitive keys. The rear panel houses a 13MP camera with dual LED flash. Both the volume rockers and the power button are placed on the right side of the device .

    Display

Lava V5 features a 5.5-inch HD display protected with a coating of Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The display reproduced vibrant colours, and no pixilation was observed on it. The viewing angles were also accurate, and readability was fine under the sun. Playing games was also a true delight as the display is big in size.

    Hardware

Powering the handset is a 64 bit 1.3 GHz MediaTek Quad Core Processor coupled with 3GB of RAM. The internal storage of the device accounts to 16GB, which can be expanded by up to 32GB using a microSD card. The connectivity attributes of the device include 4G, LTE, 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS and it houses a 3,000 mAh battery.

    Software

Lava V5 runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system out of the box, but it will get an update to Android 6 .0 Marshmallow soon. The device has a dedicated app drawer, which will prevent you from cluttering the home screen. The smartphone also has Smart Wake Up, Gestures control, OTG Support and Super Power Saving Mode.

    Camera

For photography, Lava V5 consists of a 13MP rear camera with Auto-Focus and f/2.0 aperture. The company has used a Samsung 3M2 ISOCELL sensor for better image quality. The front has an 8MP camera featuring f/2.2 aperture with 84-degree wide angle lens and LED flash. We used the camera indoors for a little whole and were not very happy with the images it produced. The colour reproduction was also average. What we think Lava V5 is a pretty decent device, and we did not witness any major problems or lag while using it. However, for a clear view of the smartphone, you will have to wait for the complete review that will bring to your shortly.

It’s Official: Xiaomi Mi 5 To Be Revealed On Feb. 24

    Mi5

Save the dates. Xiaomi has set a pair of dates on which it will offer details on its Spring Conference and the flagship phone it will reveal at that event.(Photo : Weibo)

There's still speculation over the specifications of the Mi 5, but that will end in about a month's time when Xiaomi officially reveals its latest smartphone.

It's been about a year and a half since Xiaomi launched its last flagship phone, the Mi 4. Well, the wait for something with some weight to it is almost over.

Liwan Jiang, Xiaomi's senior vice president, announced Thursday that the company will reveal the Mi 5 on Feb. 24 at an event that's expected to last 2 or more hours. The event is slated to run from 2 p.m., local time, to 4 p.m. or later. All of that time for one phone suggests that the event isn't actually about one device. Xiaomi may have more than the Mi 5 to share at its Spring Conference.

One more month of waiting is negligible, considering how many months have rolled by without a reveal. However, Xiaomi will tease a few details about the upcoming smartphone on Jan. 26 and will announce news about logistics for the Feb. 24 Spring Conference.

"Feb. 24, 2015 millet new spring conference, that is, we look forward to the # 5 # millet, particularly ticket sales and the rules the next Tuesday," stated a Web translation of a post from Jiang on China's Weibo.

Going by rumors and leaks, the Mi 5 will have a metal body and a fingerprint scanner embedded in its home button.

It will have a 5.2-inch QHD display with a resolution expected to be 1,440 x 2,560 or 1,080 x 1,920, going by the rumors. The flagship phone will come with 4 GB of RAM 64 GB of storage space in at least one configuration, while a variant might include 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of long-term storage space.

The Mi 5 is expected to wear a 16 MP camera on its rear and a 13 MP selfie cam on its face. As for battery, the one the Mi 5 will use is expected to have a 3,030 mAh capacity.

Xiaomi hasn't indicated what has taken the Mi 5 so long to arrive, but there has been speculation suggesting the company had been waiting for Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820. A regular collaborator and a Xiaomi investor, chipmaker Qualcomm will be on hand next month for the Spring Conference.

Samsung launches Galaxy Note 5 Dual SIM smartphone in India

Since it's already been confirmed that these devices are the Galaxy S7 edge and Galaxy S7, respectively, it will be safe to assume that Samsung's flagship smartphones have just arrive in India where they will be tested before launch.

The latest leak, as shared by Napidroid reveals that the upcoming flagship from the stables of Samsung will arrive running Android 6.0 Marshmallow and boasting a 4GB RAM.

For the past year or so, i Ice Universe has been one of the most prolific leaksters from China, bringing us sneak previews on both the Snapdragon 820 as well as the Exynos 8890.

Today an "import listing" (info above) suggests Samsung's Galaxy S7 Edge will come in the same 5.1-inch size like prior years, and that the Galaxy S7 Edge+ will have a 5.5-inch 2560 x 1440 Quad-HD curved display. There, at Mobile World Congress, a family of three Galaxy S7 handsets are expected to be revealed. Only the Galaxy S7 Edge+ is expected to match the iPhone, delivering the same 5.5-inch screen found in the iPhone 6s Plus. The new information does fit with the details about the smartphones that have leaked in the past.

All of which means that if you want a comparison of the looks and design of the Samsung Galaxy S7 and the iPhone 6S, you need only look at the following linked piece... We think that these models will be released only in China, but the bump in RAM and storage in the new A5 will be desired by buyers from other countries too.

Judge Lucy Koh from the Northern California District San Jose court ruled that Samsung has infringed on patented Apple technology for automatically correcting typed words and for sliding a finger across a screen to unlock a device. Galaxy S III and Samsung Stratosphere.

According to the latest reports, some of the less-used features will be discarded while others will be improved and some new additions will be included. The LeTV Le Max Pro is the first handset to come with Qualcomm's chipset, and its benchmarks reach well over the 130,000 AnTuTu milestone.

Samsung is all set to counter Apple's Live Photos with their Vivid Images, which will be pretty much the same concept as the iPhone's Live Photos.

HTC Perfume Tip Reveals Specs and Launch Details

HTC Perfume Tip Reveals Specs and Launch Details

The past couple of weeks have been surfaced with rumors about the upcoming flagship smartphones from Samsung, LG, Sony, and HTC. However, the HTC One M10, the successor of the One M9 that was released past year, has not been making the rounds in the grapevine as much as the others.

LlabTooFer also claims that HTC is planning to release the device in two versions.

There's no guarantee that the One M10 will help HTC's flailing smartphone business, but the fact that the phone's launch has not been scrapped is great news for the Android ecosystem.

Supposedly several prototypes for the phone were created and rejected, forcing the designers to go back to the drawing board and delay the launch. And you can't help but recall the hilarity surrounding the past couple of HTC One launches, where we essentially saw full reviews of devices before HTC had ever officially announced them. Nothing was mentioned in regards to the specs aside from a 3,000mAh battery although a Snapdragon 820, 3GB of RAM, and a fingerprint scanner should all be locks. Like the HTC One A9 the upcoming device will also house a physical Home button on the front. The rumoured handset is also believed to have a IP68 certification for water and dust resistance. If true, this will be a first for HTC.

This speculation comes from LLabTooFeR, who in the past has been a reliable source of various HTC-related leaks. However, HTC's successor to the One M9 from a year ago has been completely absent from the rumors. In China and SE Asia, the company will, as it has done in the past, use a cheaper, less powerful MediaTek SoC.

Needless to say, these information have not been confirmed at this point and will continue to remain under rumor category.

Samsung Galaxy S7 to Have 3 Different Sizes When It Comes Out in MWC 2016 Next Month!

The Samsung Galaxy S7 is almost certain to be launched by the Korean tech giant at the upcoming Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2016 to be held on February 22 to 25 at Barcelona, Spain.

The event has been the launching ground for Samsung flagship smartphones over the past couple of years and the Korean tech company would not be changing its strategy soon.

When the Samsung Galaxy S6 was launched at the MWC 2015 last year, it also came out with a bigger companion phone, the Galaxy S6 Edge.

Apparently, Samsung would like to keep Apple in good company in launching, at least, two flagships every year. The American tech giant has started it when it launched the iPhone 6 along with the iPhone 6 Plus in 2014 and did it again last year with the iPhone 6S and the iPhone 6S Plus.

It was already expected that Samsung would do the same again at the MWC 2016 with the possible launching of the Samsung Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge.

However, it seems that instead of just two variants of its upcoming flagship smartphone, Samsung shall reportedly launch three and they would be called as the Galaxy S7, the Galaxy S7 Edge, and the Galaxy S7 Edge+, reports the GSM Arena.

    Three flagships in one year

It can be recalled that Samsung has also launched the Galaxy S6 Edge+ in August last year, some five months after the official unveiling of the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge.

It seems that for this year, the Korean tech company would no longer be splitting the launching of its flagships and drop it altogether.

The only caveat on the supposed upcoming move of Samsung is that the Galaxy S6 Edge+ will be barely six months into the market when its successor comes out, which is likely to eat on its already limited market.

It is also possible that Samsung may have gotten wind of reports that Apple may finally decide to drop three flagship smartphones in a year beginning this year after rumors that it would happen last year never materialized.

Based on latest speculations, Apple is intent on launching the iPhone 7, the iPhone 7 Plus, and the iPhone 7c in September this year, and Samsung would like to put a headstart over the American tech giant on having three flagships in a year.

    Screen sizes and features

As expected, the main differentiating physical factor among the three upcoming Samsung flagship smartphones will be their respective screen sizes.

The base model, the Galaxy S7, shall have a flat 5.1-inch screen with no curved option. The Galaxy S7 Edge will have a bigger 5.5-inch screen but it would not have a flat screen. And the Galaxy S7 Edge+ will feature a 6-inch screen and shall be the only one in the lineup that shall have two screen options.

Reports have it that the latest flagship smartphones of Samsung shall also come in two different processor options including the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset and Samsung's own Exynos 8890 SoC.

Based also on its numerous leaks that have been making the rounds on the internet for months on end like some sort of a plague, the Galaxy S7 might not be the revolutionary upgrade that some are expecting from the Korean tech giant. But the smartphone, however, might likely bring back some much-loved features as well as some new and exciting ones, reports Forbes.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 lines are also rumored to feature a QHD and Super AMOLED displays, a generous 4GB of RAM, a new Samsung Britecell 12-megapixel camera, a bigger battery, a microSD card slot (which was removed with the Galaxy S6), and also waterproofing capability.

Last month, several internet tech and news sites had revealed that China's leading telecom carrier China Mobile has inadvertently confirmed the launching of Samsung Galaxy S7 when it recently made a presentation of its business roadmap in the coming months.

Samsung Galaxy S7: Samsung's Next Flagship Smartphone

Samsung Galaxy S7 will be taking head on with Apple this year with a feature similar to Apple's Live Photos. Live Photos was introduced by Apple in iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. Android Geeks reports the feature will be named either Timeless Photos or Vivid Photos. Therefore, this feature might be rolled out as a software update after the release.

However, the feature will not capture sound with the photo, the report adds. There has been no official statement about the launch of the Smartphone from Samsung yet.

"Consumers want a premium device, which has a local SIM and space for another SIM", With the new Galaxy Note 5 Duos, Samsung expects to maintain its leadership in the premium smartphone segment (Rs.30,000 upwards), where it claims to have a 48.1% market share now.

The Galaxy S7 is said to include a 3000mAh battery under the hood, while the Galaxy S7 Edge will feature a 3600mAh battery. The event is to be held from February 22 to February 25.

The Galaxy S7 is likely to offer top notch hardware specifications and features including an iris scanner.

According to reports, the Galaxy S7 is speculated to feature 5.2-inch QHD display, 4GB RAM, and a 20MP primary camera.

The rumors about the next flagship in the series of Galaxy smartphones by Samsung have started to pile up, here are some of the trustworthy leaks about the next Galaxy phones by Samsung.

However, now, according to Gadgets 360, Samsung's upcoming Galaxy model has reportedly passed the AnTuTu benchmark test with a Snapdragon 820 SoC on board. They will have 4 GB of RAM with either 32 GB or 64 GB storage option.

The up-coming smartphones by Samsung are rumored to come out with 12 MP camera at the back containing the feature of f/1.7 aperture and about the front camera there is no word yet, but it is not hard to assume a 5 MP front camera for selfies and video calling in both the smartphones.

Samsung Set to Launch Galaxy Note 5 Duos in India Tomorrow

Samsung is finally bringing the dual-SIM version of the Galaxy Note 5 to the Indian market. Samsung India today confirmed the handset will be available through retailers starting tomorrow.

The Galaxy Note 5 dual-SIM version will be available in two storage variants like the single-SIM version – 32GB and 64GB. The 32GB model has been priced at Rs.51.400, while the 64GB variant costs Rs.57,400. Samsung had so far restrained from launching dual-SIM versions of its flagship smartphones in the Indian market, so the Galaxy Note 5 is the first flagship Samsung smartphone to launch in a dual-SIM avatar in India.

Manu Sharma, director-product marketing at Samsung India mentioned, ""In the high-end segment, we saw a very strong trend of people using dual-SIMs in our A series smartphones. Consumers want a premium device, which has a local SIM and space for another SIM," With the new Galaxy Note 5 Duos, Samsung expects to maintain its leadership in the premium smartphone segment (Rs.30,000 upwards), where it claims to have a 48.1% market share currently. Of course, the Note 5 is only the beginning, Samsung India has confirmed that it will continue to offer premium dual-SIM flagship smartphones in the future as well. Although it is still a bit too early, but we think it is very likely that Samsung may launch the Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Edge, and the Galaxy S7 Edge+ in dual-SIM versions as well.

Other than added dual-SIM support, the new variant won't be any different from the single-SIM version already on sale in the country. And even though Samsung is going to announce its next flagship smartphone next month, not all of you are likely to be interested in the smaller size that the Galaxy S7 is likely to offer, which makes the Galaxy Note 5 a great buy even now. Plus, the S-Pen functionality cannot be ignored either, as it makes the Note 5 a truly unique phablet and perhaps the only option in the market for professionals who need the additional productivity features enabled by the S-Pen stylus on the phablet.

Samsung to launch Galaxy S7 S7 Edge and S7 Edge simultaneously

Samsung is now looking forward to working with the Android 6.0.1 version beta testers of Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge in South Korea and the United Kingdom, International Business Times reported.

There were a lot of speculation about how many types of Samsung Galaxy S7 Samsung plans to release this year. There will be a Galaxy S7, a Galaxy S7+, a Galaxy S7 edge and a Galaxy S7 edge+.

The new LG G5 will be unveiled ahead of Mobile World Congress next month, the company has confirmed that their new flagship smartphone will be made official on the 21st of February.

Apple and Samsung continue to retain top positions globally as the biggest phone manufacturers, but Chinese company Huawei is quickly gaining on both of them.

"The Exynos 8890, Samsung's next high-powered chipset, set a new record score on the AnTuTu benchmark site".

Now rumors about what Samsung will be doing for its next line of flagship smartphones have kept pouring in. "The tally of 103,692 easily topped the 79,000 recently scored by the Kirin 950 SoC, Huawei's new top-of-the-line chip (a more recent run through of the Mate 8 produced a score above 94K)", said Phone Arena. The device is expected to come out into the markets with 64GB storage.

The report claims that the new themes added for the second-generation Galaxy A-Series smartphones are exclusive to them, and can not be accessed by other Samsung smartphones that support TouchWiz themes. The Galaxy J1 (2016) sports the bright AMOLED display and packs in a 2050mAh battery. Because of the inclusion of the Britecell technology, the camera is expected to capture a better performance in low-light conditions. The new feature is apparently still in development, and may not be available until after the phone's already launched.

LG G5 Tipped to Have Modular Design in Leaked Mock-Up Image

We may finally see a modular smartphone next month and it won't be coming from the popular Project Ara team. LG is rumoured to launch its G5 flagship smartphone featuring a new modular design where the battery can be accessed from the bottom part of the phone through a slide-in and out scheme.

The latest rumour comes out of South Korea and CNET has even made up a mock-up render of the LG G5 purportedly showing the modular design. CNET Korea notes that the G5 mock-up render is based on an eyewitness testimony. LG is said to opt for a modular design for the G5 flagship in order to get rid of popping rear panel design as well as in order to keep the handset slim. In the mock-up render, the G5 is seen featuring volume rocker on the sides tipping that the South Korean may finally get rid of its rear volume rocker placement, first seen on the LG G2.

In the leaked render, the G5's detachable bottom panel is seen housing the Micro-USB port which tips that the charging port of the handset can be disconnected from the handset. An earlier report claimed that LG G5 will pack a 'Magic Slot', which will be one of the highlight features of the handset, and was said to be linked with some kind of hardware expansion. We assume that the sliding bottom panel may be dubbed 'Magic Slot.' The LG G5 is said to sport a unibody metal build.

Another highlight feature of the G5 that is being rumoured for long is the "ticker display" which is likely to sport a screen resolution of 160x1040 pixels, again same as the one found on the V10 smartphone.

Some of the rumoured specifications of the G5 include a 5.3-inch QHD (1440x2560 pixels) display; Snapdragon 820 processor; 16-megapixel rear camera, and a fingerprint scanner.

Recently, LG confirmed its presence at the upcoming MWC 2016 that will take place in Barcelona from February 22-25. LG is one of the first tech companies to have sent out invites for its MWC 2016 event.

Entry-Level LG K4 Gets Demoed In Latest Promo Video

While the LG G4 continues to be the official flagship smartphone from LG Electronics, late last year, the South Korean consumer electronics major also launched the dual-screen V10 smartphone with premium features and a premium price-tag to go with it. While the company is widely expected to launch its fifth generation flagship smartphone at some stage this year, we still don't have any real, concrete information regarding the device as of now. While it is expected to pack in top-shelf hardware when it launches later this year, it is another, more modest smartphone range from LG which is now getting some attention in the media after the company posted a promotional video on its official YouTube channel, showing off as many as three devices from that range.

At the CES 2016 trade show earlier this month, the South Korean company had unveiled its new 'K' series smartphones to replace its 'L' series mid-rangers that never quite caught on with consumers the way the multinational consumer electronics company would have wanted them to. The K10, which was recently launched in South Korea for 200,000 Won ($164), will be the most well spec'd device in the new and revamped lineup, but LG has also showed off the K7, which will come with a comparatively more modest spec sheet. Now, however, the company's latest promotional video on YouTube has outed a third and as-yet-unannounced smartphone that will seemingly be positioned even lower than the K7. The device will be marketed as the LG K4, and while it has not been officially announced just as yet, it looks as though it's only be a matter of time before that happens.

Those wanting more details regarding LG's upcoming entry-level handset will unfortunately have to wait a while longer, as the company hasn't said anything about the hardware specs or software features of the upcoming device thus far. At this stage, all we can gather is that the K4 will come with a smaller display than either the K10 or the K7, as in evident from the video. The handset will also presumably come with a lower price-tag than its two bigger siblings. The K7 pricing remains a mystery as well, but along with the K10, it too will be available globally, including in the US, where it will apparently be marketed as the LG Tribute 5. There's no word, however, regarding LG's global plans for the K4.

Rumors Claim Galaxy S7 Might Pack In A Force Touch Display

Samsung's upcoming lineup of flagship smartphones will include a pressure-sensitive display and a new, high-speed charging port, according to a report in The Wall Street Journal.

With the new screen sensitivity, Samsung will be borrowing from Apple's Force Touch technology, which was released on the iPhone 6s this fall. Another feature that might be included is a USB-C port which allows for fast-charging.

The reported fast-charging port is a USB Type-C, allowing a full day's charge in under 30 minutes or faster.

Recent reports have claimed that the LG G5 will feature a similar biometric feature, so it's perhaps no surprise that the company's biggest rival is also looking into the technology (no pun intended). Apple's touchscreen innovation is at a similar stage as Samsung's introduction of the "Edge" - a curved touchscreen on each vertical edge of the 2015 Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge and S6 Edge+.

Samsung is expected to show off the phones in March 2016 to get a jump on the next year's crop of competing devices. One thing is for sure that Samsung Galaxy S7 would be something fans would love to have with them. Today, the Wall Street Journal catches up to the news we posted in October and adds a few new feature details. Before we dive into Galaxy S7's specs and what not, let's first talk about the newly-surfaced report, shall we. "The Galaxy S7 will come in two sizes - a 5.2 inch model, Samsung is reputed to be readying a phablet sized 5.7" option too. The new Galaxy S6 design is already great so keeping it the same is probably a good idea. The noncurved version is also likely to have an external memory card slot, one of the people said. This new technology is said to improve photos even in low light, and also produces pictures with better colors. The new camera will be more in line with the surface of the phone; the Galaxy S6 features a camera which sticks out noticeably fro m the smartphone's body. The company is expected to announce the release in January next year, and reports from insiders say that the company is working hard on S7 to compete with Apple.

Samsung Galaxy S4 will be Too Tedious to Operate if It Takes on Android 6.0 Marshmallow-Based Custom ROM!

Smartphone manufacturers have set a two-year time frame for its devices to take on mobile operating system updates. While there is no rule that set everything in stone about this, the reason why the device makers have set an allowable period to update the OS of their devices is to ensure that the smartphones can still perform reasonably well.

As everyone knows, every OS update usually gets bigger and bigger as far as file sizes are concerned and an older smartphone can only take so much before it practically pukes and can no longer handle it.

That seems to be the case with the very popular Samsung Galaxy S4, the flagship smartphone of the Korean tech giant in 2013.

As the smartphone is already close to three years old, Samsung has confirmed in November last year, just weeks after Google officially rolled out the Android 6.0 Marshmallow updates, that the Galaxy S4 and that Galaxy Note 3 will not be receiving the new OS anymore, reports Tech Times.

Why Android 6.0 Marshmallow is no longer coming to Galaxy S4

Apparently, Samsung has a good basis for no longer allowing Android 6.0 Marshmallow updates to the Galaxy S4.

It turns out that the device has been suffering from sub-par performance when it took in the official Android 5.0 Lollipop updates last year that taking on further upgrade would have a telling impact on the performance, functionality and usability of the device.

As a matter of fact, one Galaxy S4 user stated in an online public forum that immediately after he took in the Android 5.0 Lollipop update last year, his smartphone started to crawl. He said that he used to open his e-mail in two seconds but with the Lollipop update, the procedure has gone on to as much as 20 seconds.

The user also complained that the map has been completely hosed. He also finds it difficult to navigate the length of his street, about one-fourth mile, without crashing the whole phone. He also added that the update has seemingly bricked his phone, notes GSM Arena.

He added that he could have just bricked his phone if he knew that the update would practically slow down his handset.

    Being creative

The Korean tech giant has officially approved Android 5.0 Lollipop updates to its Samsung Galaxy S4 smartphone and that was it.

So any update beyond Android 5.0 Lollipop is already in the realm of third-party developers who like developing custom ROM based on the latest OS updates.

Many third party developers are already expected to come up with an Android 6.0 Marshmallow-based custom ROM on Samsung Galaxy S4. However, users should actually be wary about taking the updates right away because it will have a major impact on the operating system of their devices.

If Android 5.0 Lollipop updates have been despised by a number of Galaxy S4 users because it had a negative impact on the operations of their smartphones, taking on an even bigger update like the Android 6.0 Marshmallow would perhaps brick their phone altogether.

The mobile OS of Samsung Galaxy S4 has been officially updated by the Korean tech giant up to the Android 5.0 Lollipop which it made early last year, or a few months after Google officially rolled it out in November last year.

Considering how popular the Samsung Galaxy S4 is and the millions of users holding on to the device even if it is already more than two years old, XDA developers immediately recognized the need to update it to have the latest OS.

    samsung galaxy s4

Thus, even when Samsung no longer released an official update after Android 5.0 Lollipop, a custom ROM based on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop and Android 5.1 Lollipop were developed and released during the year.

But the custom ROM updating of the Samsung Galaxy S4 has not stopped with the Android 5.1 Lollipop as a new custom ROM based on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop was developed early in December.

The custom ROM is called OrionLP and it has become available and ready for installation to Samsung Galaxy S4 bearing the model number I9500.

Huawei Honor 5x Defeats Logic With Flagship Offerings For $200!

The Huawei Honor 5X was announced back in November and now the handset is coming to the U.S. this month. The new sensor design also increases the unlock speed by 100 percent.

There's no question that the affordable smartphone market has gotten extremely competitive in recent years, with devices like the Moto G and Moto E offering solid hardware for affordable prices.

The two SIM card slots are different.

While it is unquestionably a mid-range device, the Honor 5X does offer a number of features that have previously been reserved for higher-end devices. Like most OEMs these days, save for those very budget-consciosu ones and knockoffs, Huawei has gone for a metal design, in this case an all metal unibody structure. Could this unassuming smartphone from the China-based OEM be the dark horse and unsuspectingly pull the rug from underneath the feet of big boys such as the iPhone 6s Plus and the Samsung Galaxy S6? On the front, the screen glass doesn't go all the way to the sides, but it has a narrow bezel that makes it relatively comfortable for a 5.5-inch phone.

The Z1 boasts a 1-inch passive-matrix OLED touchscreen with a resolution of 128×128 pixels. The Samsung smartphone has a pixel density of 557ppi which is the best. It is powered by a 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 SoC (four Cortex-A53 cores at 1.7GHz + four Cortex-A53 cores at 1.2GHz), clubbed with Adreno 405 GPU.

Some of the features of the device showcased in October are as follows.

At the time of the China launch, the 2GB RAM variant was priced at CNY 999 (around Rs 10,200) whereas the 3G variant is priced at CNY 1,399 (around Rs 14,300). That's the idea behind the Honor brand for Huawei. Overall, the Honor 5X feels a lot more solid and expensive than it really is. Honor states that the battery will last for 3-4 days of normal use, including daytime fitness use and sleep tracking. The iPhone 6s Plus' non-removable battery's size according to an iFixit teardown is 2,750mAh. A 3000mAh battery completes the package. The 16 GB of internal storage can be supplemented by a microSD card, up to 128 GB more. The band comes with a diamond-patterned strap in three colors – black, cream and white – and will be available on HiHonor.com/us starting 31 January at Dollars 79.99. However, it has an expandable memory option unlike the other two, which translates to an additional 128GB. Check out the source link for more details on the Honor 5X. Android 5.1.1 Lollipo p comes pre-installed here with Huawei's Emotion UI (EMUI) 3.1 user interface on top of it. This is a dual-SIM handset (Micro + Nano SIM), and it offers 4G LTE connectivity. Leaked info also reveals four speakers, a fingerprint scanner, and physical volume control buttons. After assigning fingerprints to actions, you can launch apps, view contact profiles and open camera functions from the lock screen.

Xiaomi Mi 5 launched next month

After much delay it seems that Xiaomi couldn't wait but announce that their long due Mi5 flagship smartphone will don the latest gen Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC under the hood.

According to the executive's Weibo post, the Mi 5 has entered mass production already and is likely to be available in "ample quantity" shortly after the Chinese Spring Festival, which falls on February 8. At the same time, Xiaomi's CEO Lei Jun shared his thoughts about the Mi5 on Weibo as well going on to say that he had spent some time with the Mi5.

The Mi 5 appears to be coming out not as early as previously expected as Xiaomi faces increasing competition from domestic rivals including Huawei, QiKU and LeTV, indicated the report.

After weeks of speculation that Xiaomi Mi 5 will be among the first smartphones to be powered by Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 820 processor, it has become official.

Chinese yuan weakens to 5-year lowUS stocks are opening modestly higher as trading stabilizes a day after a plunge in China unsettled investors around the globe. Stock markets fell across the region: Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index was down 2.4% and the Nikkei Stock Average was down 1.8%.

Analysts think that Samsung will launch a smartphone with a foldable screen this year

Samsung might be preparing to launch a smartphone that is radically different from anything else on the market.

Analysts at HSBC are predicting that the South Korean electronics manufacturer is going to launch a smartphone with a foldable screen in the second half of 2016.

Samsung has been looking into foldable-screen technology for years, and there are rumours that it is developing a smartphone under the codename Project Valley. (Samsung has never acknowledged this.) The fold would let users have a far bigger screen — useful for apps and consuming media — without drastically increasing the size of the device. But few expect it to make its way to market any time soon.

However, a new report on foldable screen technology from the bank HSBC argues that the tech "will be here sooner than we think."

"The foldable smartphone is upon us"

HSBC analysts argue that Samsung is likely to be one of the first to utilise the technology commercially, and we should expect to see a launch this year. (This won't be in its flagship Galaxy S line, by the way: That's due to launch in Q1 and rumours make no mention of a folding screen.)

Here's the analysts' rationale — emphasis ours:

We think Samsung will likely introduce foldable OLED smartphones as early as 2H16, versus market expectations of 2017, as the company tries harder to regain market share. In our view, foldable OLED smartphones could transform Samsung's smartphone business, with the potential to become a 'killer' feature in the premium smartphone space given that (1) a foldable OLED model would provide it with a high degree of product differentiation; (2) it gives users the best of both world's – namely, a larger screen size in a smaller form factor; and (3) it could enable the company to capture market share in both the smartphone and tablet markets with a single product. The coming roll-out of foldable OLED smartphones also bodes well for growth across the entire OLED panel supply chain: from the panel makers to equipment makers to materials suppliers.

In short: Samsung is struggling to regain market share, and a foldable screen would give it a truly unique selling point, setting it apart from every other product on the market.

And, as an added bonus, the larger screen sizes the fold would create would let Samsung gobble up part of the tablet market too.

    It makes sense.

It's worth pointing out that HSBC doesn't seem to have an inside source here — or at least, not one it's acknowledging. It's just making a prediction.

But strategically, it does make sense.

Samsung smartphones have succeeded best when they're unique — when they offer the consumer something that no-one else can. The South Korean company was one of the first to introduce larger screens, and as such used to dominate high-end smartphone sales.

But then Apple came along with the larger-sized iPhone 6 — which handed Apple its best ever sales, as well as the most profitable quarter of any company ever. Meanwhile, Samsung profits, and sales, plummeted. (Samsung's sales have also been hurt by the rise of low-cost Asian smartphone vendors like Xiaomi and Huawei.)

In 2015, Samsung made a similar mistake again with the S6, its flagship smartphone. It built two versions of the device — the S6, and the S6 Edge, which is more expensive, and has a curved screen.

According to a report in The Wall Street Journal in July 2015, Samsung assumed demand for the devices would be around four to one in favour of the regular S6. But the Edge has turned out to be much more popular, and demand is closer to one to one. The company was left scrambling, with excess inventory of S6 units and not nearly enough of the more expensive S6 Edge units to satisfy demand.

It sounds like a good problem to have — your phone is too popular!

But it's also totally avoidable, and damaged Samsung's potential sales.

    A truly unique selling point

One of the rumoured features for the S7 — Samsung's next big phone — is a pressure-sensitive screen. It is rumoured that the smartphone will be able to tell how hard you are pressing on the screen and react accordingly — a feature very similar to Apple's "Force Touch," which it introduced to the iPhone 6s back in September 2015.

Samsung has been accused of copying Apple like this for years, and has even been targeted by lawsuits alleging that it has infringed upon the Cupertino company's patents.

A foldable smartphone, on the other hand, would be truly unique — and ideally positioned to grab swathes of the high-end smartphone market.
