Xiaomi Mi 5 launched next month

After much delay it seems that Xiaomi couldn't wait but announce that their long due Mi5 flagship smartphone will don the latest gen Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC under the hood.

According to the executive's Weibo post, the Mi 5 has entered mass production already and is likely to be available in "ample quantity" shortly after the Chinese Spring Festival, which falls on February 8. At the same time, Xiaomi's CEO Lei Jun shared his thoughts about the Mi5 on Weibo as well going on to say that he had spent some time with the Mi5.

As far as the rumored Xiaomi Mi 5 specifications go, GSM Arena said that the smartphone will reportedly feature a 5.2-inch display, packed with a Full HD or Quad HD screen resolution.

The handset is said to come in two memory and storage versions - 3GB of RAM with 32GB inbuilt storage, and 4GB of RAM with 64GB storage. It is expected to sport a 16-megapixel camera on the rear and a 13-megapixel camera on the front. There's 16/64GB of internal storage with a microSD card slot, a 16MP camera for photos and videos, a 3,030 mAh battery and ships with Android 5.1 Lollipop with MIUI 7 on top of it.
