IPhone 7 Features Include Lightning Earpods, Says Analysts

The next Apple flagship smartphone might be some more months away, but when has that ever stopped us from speculating about the innovations it might bring?

The headphone jack will likely get killed when Apple introduces the iPhone 7 this year, but don't expect Cupertino to toss in a free pair of wireless EarPods with the new device. In the report, analysts Blayne Curtis and Christopher Hemmelgarn believe that 2016's iPhone 7 will include a Lightning-equipped headphone accessory, with the "potential" for a dynamic noise-canceling system to be introduced next year.

Furthermore, Cirrus could provide an amp for the secondary speaker that would replace the headphone jack, the analysts said. The device, which is due this September, is expected to accelerate the slowing year-over-year growth in iPhone shipments. One is a piece of decoding software, or a codec, that would enable headphones to use a digital input (the Lightning connector) instead of an analog headphone jack. However, it may still make an appearance in time for the iPhone 7s in 2017. Companies planning to build supporting headphones will need to pay for a license. There is speculation that the company could use Bluetooth to provide wireless headphones.

iPhone 7 is going to sport a ton of improvements over its predecessors, which obviously includes improved hardware.

These are also said to look similar with Bragi's new Dash headphones and the Motorola Hint headset, which were showed off during the 2016 CES in January.

We feel compelled, however, to warn you that as with all rumors on the upcoming iPhone, these latest reports are best taken with huge grain of salt until further confirmation.
