Samsung Elec Says Preorders For Galaxy S7 Phones Stronger Than Expected

Samsung Electronics Co. showcased its latest flagship smartphones in South Korea on Thursday, with price tags hovering below their predecessors in an apparent bid to better compete with rivals and improve its ailing smartphone business.

The telco, which is owned by British mobile phone giant Vodafone, is also offering its subscribers a Samsung Galaxy S7 LTE smartphone at R599/month for 24 months contract on a Smart plan.

The Galaxy S7s offer incremental upgrades, leading some analysts to predict sales in the first year will be weaker than last year's Galaxy S6s.

We've been kicking the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge a little bit because they're a little low on the megapixels when it came to our flagship comparisons, but Samsung is already proving us wrong. But when you compare the features that were released on the S6 compared the Galaxy S7, it's pretty obvious that Samsung wanted to focus on things such as camera quality and durability, among other things. The use of strong adhesive on the rear glass also makes it incredibly hard to access the phone, with the risk of the glass cracking in an attempt to get inside. Now, this won't be an easy task by itself. The display needs to be removed, increasing the risk, if one needs to replace the USB port. Furthermore, iFixit says it is "probably impossible" to replace a cracked screen without destroying the display due to the adhesive used.
