Since OnePlus decided to drop the invite system with the OnePlus 3, the smartphone has sold way more than OnePlus actually anticipated. As a result, the company is now finding it difficult to keep up with the high demand for its latest flagship smartphone. This has forced the company to halt sales of the OnePlus 3 from August 9th to September 12th in various markets.
The affected countries are Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, France, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Spain.
Carl Pei, the company's co-founder, explained in a post that they have decided to go ahead with the temporary sales halt due to the higher than expected sales in mainland Europe in order to give inventory time to "replenish". Due to the high demand for the smartphone in Europe, shipping times had been getting longer over the past two weeks or so, leading to frustration among consumers.
If you live in one of the countries that are affected, we suggest you place your order as soon as possible, in case you do not wish to wait for more than a month for the OnePlus 3 sales to resume. If you don't mind waiting, you can sign up on the OnePlus website to be notified when the smartphone is back in stock. Consumers in other countries need not worry at this point, although a similar sales halt in other markets cannot be counted out, in case the demand exceeds supply by a significant margin.
The OnePlus 3 is quite clearly getting a lot of attention from buyers worldwide, mainly due to the fact that it is an excellent VFM flagship and offers almost everything that you expect from a flagship device at a price that is almost half of what other major OEMs charge for their flagship smartphones.
