We're pretty sure by now, less than two weeks before the Unpacked Event, you're all hyped up about this year's Galaxy S7. The premium flagship smartphone has been a favorite subject together with the Galaxy Edge and Galaxy Edge+ variants. Like we've been saying over and over again, expect more rumors, leaks, and early sightings about the new phones that we're all still hoping would have a microSD card slot.
The photo above is said to be a first look of the real Galaxy S7 Edge. It could be just be a prototype but the image looks legit. How do we know it's #TheNextGalaxy? Words are in Chinese but there's that SM-G9350 model number we discovered a few months back. However, SM-G930 is supposed to be for the S7 only while the the phone looks like an S7 Edge. That's an image of an AnTuTu benchmark test results showing a whopping 134,704 score points.
Another leaked image tells us that the Galaxy S7 will have no more of the camera hump as we noticed before. We can still hope for a full-metal body frame but a source said that it won't be aluminum but a magnesium metal frame this time. The phone pictured here doesn't look like it has a glass back panel though. It looks more plastic but that's understandable if it's only a prototype. Phone looks classy in an all-black finish including the camera.
So far, here's what we know about the specs: 5.5-inch (or 5.1- or 5.7-) Super AMOLED screen, Exynos 8890 or Qualcomm S820, 4GB RAM, 12MP camera with f / 1.7 aperture, 5MP or 8MP front-facing camera, 32GB/64GB onboard storage, microSD card slot, and a 3600mAh battery.
We already know that the S7 and the S7 Edge will have better battery life--probably a 17-hour video playback on both the Snapdragon 820 and Exynos model. The camera will boast of a BRITECELL technology that will make images brighter and prove that it's imaging-centric. As for the pricing, it might be the same as last year.
Interestingly, the photo is from a source in Vietnam (don't mind the guava). There's information that both phones will be available in the country on March 18--a few weeks after the March 3 announcement. We're crossing our fingers that this will have that IP67-certification just like the old Galaxy S5.
