A First Look! Samsung's New Galaxy S8 Flagship Smartphones

We've contacted Microsoft to see if the "special" edition handset will be coming to the United Kingdom but we can't imagine it will, as the Samsung Galaxy S8 handset that we got our mitts on had a suite of Microsoft apps pre-loaded. We remind you that previous year, the Korean-based company was forced to discontinue and even recall every single Galaxy Note 7 unit that has sold.

The S8 and S8+ will also be able to work in conjunction with other Samsung products.

Interestingly, the device will have to be unboxed in-store and connected to the retailer's Wi-Fi, which will start loading Microsoft apps into the device.

While retaining the S7's 12MP sensor, the S8's camera has a new multi-frame processing capabilities, which rapidly takes multiple shots, picks the best one and uses the rest to reduce blur. Samsung says that software and processor efficiencies will let the new phones offer all-day battery life under normal use. It is clear that the future owners of the Galaxy S8 will not be disappointed with this camera. The Samsung Galaxy S8+ will be 6.2 inches, compared with Galaxy S7 Edge's 5.5 inches and the Galaxy Note 7's 5.7 inches.

Samsung claims its new voice assistant, Bixby, will do much more than rivals from Apple, Google, Microsoft and Amazon. When viewing a photo, just say "send this to Bob" to pull up messaging options and contact information for the Bobs you know.

Furthermore, the devices can be used with Samsung Dex - which transforms smartphones into a desktop-like experience - and work with Samsung Connect to manage IoT-enabled devices through one app.

And with the device's high dynamic range capabilities, you see exactly what a film's creator wants you to see. Other apps will be able to adopt Bixby, but Samsung has had a mixed track record in getting other companies to support its home-brewed functions, such as an "Air View" feature for showing pop-up previews of content.
