AI Powered Honor Magic Smartphone Launched with AMOLED Display & Dual Rear Cameras

After days of teasing its latest smartphone Honor Magic, the company made it official today in China. The Honor Magic is said to be Huawei's answer for Xiaomi's Mi MIX concept phone. In reality, the newly launched Honor Magic (NTS-AL00) is more focused on offering Artifical Intelligence (AI) experience, but most those features are said to be in the beta stage. On the other hand, the Mi MIX featured some innovative hardware like the three-sided bezel-less display, ultrasonic proximity sensor, and piezoelectric ceramic acoustic technology speaker. This special device skips using the in-house EMUI and runs on the new Magic Live OS based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Talking about the AI based Magic Live OS, it does automated work like showing movie tickets while entering the theater or boarding pass in the airport.

Recently, the company launched the Mate 9 and Mate 9 Pro smartphone with the latest Android 7.0 Nougat based EMUI 5.0. As said earlier, the device comes with DeepThink features which work similar to the Google Now on Tap by showing the relative information from what displayed on the screen. It can be activated by long-pressing the home button. The FaceCode is another nice feature which shows the notification with complete details only for the registered users. My Pocket feature brings the sharing options on any screen by just swiping up from the bottom of the screen. The Wisescreen sensor makes the device ready to use only when the registered user picks the phone. Apart from the 3D curved glass on the front and back of the device, we find the SIM card tray on the Magic to be a bit interesting which can hold two SIM's side-by-side.

The capacitive home button placed on the front also includes the fingerprint sensor. It lacks any other navigation buttons as the only home button does other tasks with the swipe gestures. Talking about the specifications, it sports a 5.09-inch AMOLED display with Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution. Under the hood, the device comes powered by the last year's 2.3GHz Kirin 950 octa-core processor which lacks the graphics performance when compared to the latest Kirin 960 SoC. With all these powerful specs, the Magic comes with a 2,900mAh battery along with Huawei Magic Power charger. The company claims the battery to be charged 90% in just 30 minutes while 10 minutes charge can give almost 40% battery life. There is also an infrared camera on the front to recognize the user's eye.

Much like other flagship smartphones from the company, the Magic is also equipped with dual 12MP rear cameras with f/2.2 aperture and 1.4µm pixels. Here one is a monochrome sensor and the other is RGB sensor. For selfies, there is an 8MP front camera with f/2.0 aperture. Connectivity options include 4G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, A-GPS, and USB Type-C port. The SIM card slot, loudspeaker, 3.5mm audio port, and USB Type-C port lies on the bottom edge of the device. It measures 146.2 x 69.9 x 7.8 mm and weighs 145 grams. The device is priced at 3699 Yuan and will be available in Golden Black and Porcelain White color options. The registration for sale starts today while the actual sales begin from December 16th. Stay tuned on Phone Radar for more details!
