HTC wants to shake things up in 2017 with new smartphone designs

The video shows off some of the unique, and in some cases, textured designs that the company's new smartphones will incorporate. What we have today is some tidbit on a phone that could be an HTC flagship, and that certainly looks interesting.

By 2013, HTC wasn't the revered manufacturer that it had been during the earlier years of smartphone development.

Information on the HTC Vive in a promotional video that was leaked several days ago by HTC designerShaun Saperstein and recently tweeted by leaker Evan Blass. Is this the HTC Ocean Note?

The first video posted up concerns the HTC Ocean, a concept that has been thrown around for at least a few months.

HTC's upcoming U Ultra might actually be the flagship smartphone, but little is known about the new phone.

There is not a whole of info beyond these images and content-restrictive videos, but it does give us a clue on what to expect in 2017 from HTC.

While both the phones appear to be carrying HTC's new design language and features never seen before on an HTC smartphone, the HTC One X10 could be a plain successor of the HTC One X9. That circle is likely a capacitive home key, but it could also be an LED notification light or something else. The event teased "For U" will see HTC launching the HTC U Ultra and U Play smartphones.

While there is still no confirmation on the exact number and names of devices to be unveiled at the event, the HTC U Play is seen as a contender thanks to the teaser revealed by the company with a "U" in it. He even asked his followers in the caption if they still remember the handset that is debuting on January 12.

When HTC debuted with the HTC One M7 during Mobile World Congress 2013, they effectively swept the floor with the One's aluminum unibody design.

Around the 1:28 mark in the video (near the end), there is also a device shown off on the right of two other devices, one that could potentially excite anyone concerned with VR and HTC Vive.
