Sony Confirms Android Oreo for select Xperia Smartphones, Xperia Z lineup misses the cut

Sony Xperia XZ1 and XZ1 Compact were launched with Android Oreo during IFA. The Sony Xperia X, XZ Premium are among some of the few devices receiving the Oreo update.

Sony launched its latest flagship smartphones, the Xperia XZ1 and Xperia XZ1 Compact at its IFA event. The flagship lineup for Sony is represented by both the smartphones and they will work on Android 8.0 Oreo out-of-box. Other than Google Pixel and Nexus devices, the Xperia XZ1 and XZ1 Compact are amongst the first smartphones to receive Android Oreo.

Consumers who purchase the latest Sony flagships will get to experience Android Oreo, along with the performance of a flagship smartphone, however, what about the previous Sony devices? Sony, on its blog, has confirmed the names of devices which will receive the Android 8.0 Oreo update in the near future.
