Vivo will be launching two new flagship smartphones Vivo X9 and X9 Plus on November 16th in China. Recently, these two devices are listed on TENAA as Vivo X9 and X9L. Though the company has officially revealed few specifications of the device, the leaked images on Weibo unveiled all the key information regarding both the devices. Both the X9 and X9 Plus will be coming with an Aluminum built unibody design. Today, the Vivo X9 is listed on JD.com, one of the major Chinese online retailers. The device will be available in Gold and Rose Gold color options. The listing is yet to be updated with specifications and pricing of the device. From the images, we can see the dual front camera placed on the left side of the earpiece.
The physical home button on the front will be equipped with a fingerprint sensor. It has the curved Antenna band design on the back which we first saw on Meizu Pro 6 smartphone. Later Apple iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are also launched with the similar Antenna band design. The SIM card slot is on the left edge of the device, while the volume rocker and power button are placed on the right edge. On the front, the devices are equipped with dual camera setup featuring 20MP and 8MP sensors along with soft LED flash. According to the company, the 20MP IMX376 sensor on the front is jointly developed by both Vivo and Sony. Compared to OPPO smartphones with 16MP sensors, the Vivo X9 and X9 Plus can capture much better selfies. Last year, LG had launched the LG V10 smartphones with 5MP dual cameras. Lenovo's Vibe S1 came with an 8MP + 2MP camera setup on the front.
The Vivo X9 sports a 5.5-inch display with Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) resolution. We expect the company to use AMOLED panel and the device has very thin bezels on the sides. Under the hood, the device will be powered by Snapdragon 653 octa-core processor clocked at 1.95 GHz and coupled Adreno 510 GPU. It has 4GB RAM and 32GB of internal storage whereas the Vivo X9 Plus will be coming with 6GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage. Vivo is the first smartphone manufacturer to launch a smartphone with 6GB of RAM. The Elite Edition of the Vivo XPlay 5 launched in early 2016 came with 6GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage.
While there are dual sensors on the front for selfies, the Vivo X9 also packs a 16MP sensor on the rear for regular photos and videos. Both the front and rear cameras will be assisted by a single LED flash. The device will be running on latest FunTouch OS based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The Vivo X9 Plus also sports similar design and specifications apart from a bigger display and battery. Stay tuned for more updates in the coming days.
