As per the latest Google Android distribution chart, Android 6.0 Marshmallow is turning out to the most popular and widely adopted Android update till date. The recent July report reveals that about 13.3 percent hike up from 10.1 percent in June, which is a commendable jump and Google expects that adoption to grown further in the coming months. While it is easy to say that Android Nougat will easily be the next best thing, it will take quite a bit of time until the update arrives on smartphones apart from the Google Nexus series. So for now Android 6.0 Marshmallow is still the best and the smoothest update one can get with Google's handy Now on Tap integration inside. With that said, here's a list of the top Android 6.0 Marshmallow-powered smartphones that you can get in India today.
Samsung
Samsung has a long list of devices that support Android Marshmallow. The current list includes the top of the line Samsung Galaxy S7 edge, followed by the Galaxy S7. Add to this list last year's Note5 phablet and the year old A8 along with the recent J5 and J7, all come with Android 6.0 Marshmallow on board. The recently launched Galaxy On5 Pro and On7 Pro feature Android 6.0 out of the box as well.
LG
LG's list of smartphones that were recently launched with Android 6.0 Marshmallow is relatively shorter. We have the flagship LG G5, the just launched LG Stylus 2 Plus and the year old Nexus 5X. The recently announced K7 and the K10 smartphones sadly, do not feature Android 6.0 Marshmallow, but are stuck on Android 5.0 Lollipop.
Sony
The latest smartphones to come out of Sony's stable include the Xperia XA and the Xperia X both of which feature Android 6.0. Recently launched handsets like the Xperia Z5, Xperia Z5 Premium flagships and even the now ageing Xperia Z3+ seems to have been upgraded to Android 6.0. Add to this the recently launched M4 Aqua which is also expected to get Android 6.0 in the coming weeks.
HTC
HTC announced a plethora of smartphones a month ago, and while it is confusing as to which model is available in stores, the flagship devices come with the latest Android 6.0 software. The now ageing One A9 also comes with Android 6.0 on board. Coming to the newly launched devices, the HTC 10, One X9, Desire 825 and the Desire 630 all pack in Android 6.0 with HTC's Sense UI.
Xiaomi
Xiaomi's selection of Android 6.0-powered smartphones is fairly limited. This would include the just two of its recently launched smartphones the Mi 5 flagship, and the gigantic Mi Max. The Redmi Note 3 is still stuck on Android 5.0 Lollipop.
Oppo
Sadly, both of Oppo's recently launched smartphones are still stuck on Android 5.0.1 Lollipop even though they feature the revamped ColourOS skinning on top. With the top of the line Oppo F1 Plus you get a Android 5.1 with Colour OS 3.1 while the older Oppo F1 features ColorOS 2.1, based on Android 5.1. Even the Oppo A37 comes with Android 5.1 Lollipop but thankfully gets ColorOS 3.1 onboard.
OnePlus
With a rather limited range of smartphones on sale, it is a bit odd that OnePlus has yet not updated its OnePlus X smartphone to Android 6.0. The company recently announced that it will direct its focus on flagship smartphones like the recently launched OnePlus 3 and so far this is pretty much visible from the recent update. The older OnePlus 2 which is still up for sale, comes with Android 6.0.
Motorola
All three of Motorola's recently launched smartphones are powered by Android 6.0 Marshmallow. This would include, the just released Moto E3, the Moto G4 and the Moto G4 Plus. Recently announced flagships have had their fair share of marshmallow updates as well but this would oddly not include the Moto X Force in India which has been on online store shelves for quite some time.
Lenovo
Oddly, even Lenovo's just launched K4 Note with a wooden finish is up for sale with Android 5.1 Lollipop. Which makes the recently launched Vibe C2 the only new smartphone to feature Android 6.0 Marshmallow on board. Add to this list the K3 Note which has recently started to get Android 6.0 update.
Asus
Asus recently announced its Zenfone Max in India and apart from the battery life, its second most highlighted feature was Android 6.0 Marshmallow. While Asus has yet to launch its new Zenfone 3 range in India, the Zenfone Zoom and the Zenfone Selfie are the only recent smartphones that are now receiving the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update.
