Xiaomi has already launched its flagship smartphone Mi 5 for this year. Now, the company seems to be targeting Apple's iPhone SE with its own 4.3-inch smartphone, dubbed Xiaomi Mi 5 Mini. A rather sketchy photo of a Xiaomi smartphone featuring a 4.3-inch display has surfaced on Weibo. The new Xiaomi smartphone looks like a shrunken version of the flagship Mi 5 smartphone. According to the Weibo post, the smartphone is likely to launch later this month.
Currently, the smartphones are getting bigger in size with large 5.7-inch and 6-inch displays. Even Xiaomi has launched a large 6.44-inch Mi Max smartphone. Contrary to the trend Apple this year launched the iPhone SE with a 4-inch display. Unlike the mini versions of other flagship smartphones, the iPhone SE does not compromise on the specifications front. As far as the rumored Xiaomi smartphone goes, the idea seems to be the same — offer top-of-the-line specifications and features in a compact form factor, just like the iPhone SE.
As per the leak, this upcoming Xiaomi smartphone will feature a 4.3-inch HD (1280×720 pixels) display and Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 820 chipset under the hood. It is also likely to include 3GB of RAM, 32GB internal storage, 13-megapixel camera and a fingerprint scanner.
That said it looks quite sketchy at the moment, and the leaked photo most likely is a fake one as well. What really makes us doubt the authenticity though is the price tag. According to the Weibo post, the smartphone will be priced at ¥1,799 (Rs 18,400 approximately). This makes it just ¥200 less than the Xiaomi Mi 5′s price tag in China — ¥1,999. As with such leaks, we ask you to take this leak with the proverbial pinch of salt.
