OnePlus has launched a killer flagship smartphone with 6GB of RAM and an SD820 chipset under the hood. Though in paper, the device seems like it could break all records, a physical performance test ruled out the Samsung flagship Galaxy S7 edge as the winner when pit against the OnePlus 3.
Well, as bad as it sounds, a smartphone's true performance is only seen when a user is on it with practical daily tasks. While benchmark tests produce numbers, they could be manipulated to score high. However, a smartphone's true performance is only as good as the saying 'beauty is in the eye of the beholder'. Well, probably a bad example for a phrase, but what we mean to say is that the user is the only one who can vouch for the actual performance of the smartphone he is using.
As for the OnePlus 3, we did see a good performance when pulling up apps and tasks. However, this usually is the case when you use a smartphone with almost zero user apps. But when you start filling your 50+ applications that you require on your daily routine, you will get to know the true performance and how the smartphone handles all those apps.
C4ETech has put up a video which probably explains best how the OnePlus 3 was defeated by the Samsung flagship by a huge margin. He explains that using the two smartphones loaded with identical apps and with power saving mode disabled and connected to the same network. Check out the video for more information.
The OnePlus 3 definitely needs to have RAM management in place. Optimisation to manage multi-tasking is an important aspect, especially when you have 6GB of RAM. Hopefully, OnePlus will shoot an update for the device asap.
