Chinese handset company Xiaomi has launched its latest smartphone named Xiaomi Mi 5 on Thursday, April 31st, 2016.
The 32GB variant is priced at Rs 24,999 while the 64GB version or the Mi5 pro is not launched yet. There is also a 4 MP ultrapixel front facing camera with f/2.0 aperture. In addition to the new Redmi 3 Pro, other iterations are also expected to appear, and it is suggested that Xiaomi may even reveal a global release of another Pro device, the Mi 5 Pro.
One of the key tech breakthroughs on the 16MP camera is 4-axis Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), which is more effective at compensating for handshake in a variety of shooting scenarios, and is particularly effective for video. With the launch, India has become one of the first markets to get the Xiaomi Mi 5 outside China. The 32GB variant of the Mi 5 boasts a 3D glass body, and features a 1.8GHz Snapdragon 820 chipset, and 3GB of RAM.
The Mi 5 has a 5.15-inch ultra-thin FullHD display with a 1920x1080 pixels resolution and Xiaomi's proprietary Sunlight Display technology.
Weighing 129 grams, the Mi 5 is about 14 g lighter than the iPhone 6s. Also, it is the first smartphone available in India to be powered by Snapdragon 820 processor. For graphics, the device comes with Adreno 530 GPU. Also while the bezels on the sides are much thinner than those at the top and bottom, the 5.1 inch display on the Mi 5 means that the phone has a taller frame.
As announced earlier, Xiaomi has officially launched its latest flagship Xiaomi Mi 5 here in India. The Mi 5 ships with MIUI 7 which is based on Android Marshmallow. It is backed by a 3,000mAh and supports Quick Charge 3.0 for faster charging speeds. The new consumer headset is a refined version of last year's model and is compatible with the latest crop of high-end Samsung phones, including the Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6 Edge+, Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge.
