After going big with the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6s, Apple took a step back of sorts by launching a smaller iPhone SE. Now, Xiaomi is reportedly going to soon launch a 4.3-inch smartphone to compete with the Apple iPhone SE. It may be recalled that the Xiaomi Mi 2, launched in 2012, was the last 4.3-inch smartphone from the company. Since the Xiaomi has preferred smartphones with relatively large displays.
This mystery Xiaomi smartphone was spotted in China with the leaked photo showing the front panel. One feature that is clearly visible is the physical home button under the display, which by the looks of it, could have a fingerprint scanner embedded into it, GizChina reports.
Apart from the 4.3-inch display, the leak says that upcoming Xiaomi smartphone features a HD (720p) display, Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820 chipset, 3GB of RAM, 32GB internal memory, and a 13-megapixel rear camera.
This smartphone is expected to go on sale sometime in June, and will be priced around 1,799 Yuan (Rs 18,300 approximately). If true, this Xiaomi smartphone will be one to look forward to, considering Android smartphones with small displays and top-notch specs are a rarity. It seems to be clearly aimed at Apple's iPhone SE, which too is offering flagship-level specifications and features in a very small form factor.
In the meantime, Xiaomi is gearing up to launch its flagship Mi 5 smartphone in India later this week. The company has already revealed that the upcoming smartphone will be priced between Rs 20,000 and Rs 27,000.
The Xiaomi Mi 5 is likely to be available in two variants — 32GB and 64GB. The 32GB variant features a 1.8GHz Snapdragon 820 chipset paired with 3GB of RAM, while the 64GB variant features a 2.15GHz Snapdragon 820 chipset paired with 3GB of RAM.

The rest of the specifications remain the same, so you get a 5.15-inch 1080p display, 16-megapixel rear camera with 4K video recording capabilities, four-axis OIS technology, PDAF, and dual-tone LED flash, and a 4-megapixel selfie camera. There is also a 3,000mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support, fingerprint scanner embedded into the home button, and connectivity options like dual-SIM card slots, 4G LTE support, Wi-Fi, IR Blaster, USB Type-C port and NFC.
