Mi 5: Xiaomi launches new flagship phone at Rs 24999 in India

Chinese handset company Xiaomi has launched its latest smartphone named Xiaomi Mi 5 on Thursday, April 31st, 2016.

The 32GB variant is priced at Rs 24,999 while the 64GB version or the Mi5 pro is not launched yet. There is also a 4 MP ultrapixel front facing camera with f/2.0 aperture. In addition to the new Redmi 3 Pro, other iterations are also expected to appear, and it is suggested that Xiaomi may even reveal a global release of another Pro device, the Mi 5 Pro.

One of the key tech breakthroughs on the 16MP camera is 4-axis Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), which is more effective at compensating for handshake in a variety of shooting scenarios, and is particularly effective for video. With the launch, India has become one of the first markets to get the Xiaomi Mi 5 outside China. The 32GB variant of the Mi 5 boasts a 3D glass body, and features a 1.8GHz Snapdragon 820 chipset, and 3GB of RAM.

The Mi 5 has a 5.15-inch ultra-thin FullHD display with a 1920x1080 pixels resolution and Xiaomi's proprietary Sunlight Display technology.

Weighing 129 grams, the Mi 5 is about 14 g lighter than the iPhone 6s. Also, it is the first smartphone available in India to be powered by Snapdragon 820 processor. For graphics, the device comes with Adreno 530 GPU. Also while the bezels on the sides are much thinner than those at the top and bottom, the 5.1 inch display on the Mi 5 means that the phone has a taller frame.

As announced earlier, Xiaomi has officially launched its latest flagship Xiaomi Mi 5 here in India. The Mi 5 ships with MIUI 7 which is based on Android Marshmallow. It is backed by a 3,000mAh and supports Quick Charge 3.0 for faster charging speeds. The new consumer headset is a refined version of last year's model and is compatible with the latest crop of high-end Samsung phones, including the Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6 Edge+, Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge.

Xiaomi Mi 5 launched in India for Rs 24,999

After 18 months of waiting, Xiaomi's new flagship is finally here. The smartphone was announced in late-February by the company, but has finally made its way to India today. The company held a dedicated event in New Delhi a short while ago, sharing pricing and availability details of this very attractive flagship.

As expected, the handset will not go heavy on your wallets and will be priced at Rs 24,999 for the entry level 32GB model which is also known as the 'Standard Edition'. Unfortunately, this will be the only model sold in India. The handset will be available for purchase via mi.com first on April 6. However, other retailers will follow suit soon.

The company will make the device available through a flash sale, so you will not be able to get it freely like any other device. This isn't really a surprise though as Xiaomi devices are usually sold this way.

Overall, the Mi 5 is a very attractive device at this price point and could be a game changer in the Indian mid -range/high-end mobile industry. We hope other models of the smartphone will be available for purchase soon as well.

Samsung India all set to launch new smartphone on Thursday

Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor, who has been promoting Samsung's J-series smartphones in India, will also promote the new device of the South Korean company. Earlier today, Samsung officially introduced the public to the new Galaxy J5 (2016) and Galaxy J7 (2016) in China. It comes with a 5-megapixel camera on the rear with LED flash and autofocus, along with a 2-megapixel camera on the front. Like us on Facebook Other than the purported "Bike Mode" feature, the Galaxy J3 offers a 5-inch HD Super AMOLED display featuring 1280×720 pixel resolutions. There is 32GB of internal storage which can be further expanded via provided MicroSD card slot.

The other part of the story includes a much less powerful smartphone, the Galaxy J5.

The predecessors to the phones, Galaxy J7 (2015) and J5 (2015), were released a year ago with a number of great features.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 has really taken the Android smartphone world by storm as the flagship smartphone has been the talk of the town ever since it was unveiled during the Mobile World Congress 2016. Both smartphones come with dual SIM support and feature similar designs but with different hardware.

There is a 13MP camera on the back and a 5MP front-facing camera. As you might've guessed, the Galaxy J5 (2016) is smaller than the J7 (2016), with the former packing a 5.2-inch 1280x720 Super AMOLED display and the latter offering a 5.5-inch 1920x1080 Super AMOLED screen.

In addition, the Samsung Galaxy J7 (2016) reportedly runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, supports 4G Long-Term Evolution (LTE) connectivity, and is expected to retail at less than $300.

As of now, there is no word on the pricing and availability outside China. Although a few millimeters shorter and narrower than the J7, it is still thicker at 8.1mm and comes in the same three color options.

HTC Canada Teases Fastest, Smoothest Experience On HTC 10

HTC has been tweeting and posting teasers for its upcoming flagship smartphone for the past couple of weeks, and there's bound to be a couple more leading up the scheduled launch and public unveiling of the device when they hold their event on April 12th. So far HTC has teased that the new device will carry "world first, world class" front and back cameras, and although that isn't too descriptive, it says that they're more than confident that they're manufacturing this device with an exceptional camera experience. Whether or not the HTC 10 lives up to its claims is anybody's guess at this point. HTC has also recently teased that the device will coming with booming audio, telling their consumers that the new boom is coming and "they'll hear it."

HTC's most recent teaser comes from their HTC Canada Twitter page, stating that not all phones are created equal. HTC is boasting that the HTC 10 will be the fastest and smoothest Android experience out there, which is yet again another bold claim from the company, especially in the wake of the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge, both which offer a pretty fast and smooth experience themselves. HTC finishes off their tweet by telling consumers "they'll feel it" in regards to the performance being fast and smooth.

Just like every other tweet teaser that HTC has put out so far, the tweet is accompanied by an image which shows off just a little bit of the device design, but not enough to really make heads or tails of the final visual appearance as a whole. In this latest image, HTC shows off that the device will have what look like capacitive keys on the front of the phone, sitting on either side of what is most likely a fingerprint sensor button like on the HTC One A9 launched in the Fall of last year. While the fingerprint sensor is not too much of a surprise, the use of capacitive keys in the teaser image is a bit curious considering the One A9, One M9, One M8, and the One M7 all use on-screen keys as per the Android software version on each of those phones. While it's too early to tell yet if the capacitive keys will actually be there, the teaser more or less suggests that they will be.

Xiaomi smartphone with 4.3-inch display, Snapdragon 820 chipset leaked; could take on Apple iPhone SE

By Sambit Satpathy on Mar 29, 2016 at 4:42 PM Email @some_bit comments Tags: Apple iPhone SE xiaomi News xiaomi-redmi-note-review-bgr

After going big with the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6s, Apple took a step back of sorts by launching a smaller iPhone SE. Now, Xiaomi is reportedly going to soon launch a 4.3-inch smartphone to compete with the Apple iPhone SE. It may be recalled that the Xiaomi Mi 2, launched in 2012, was the last 4.3-inch smartphone from the company. Since the Xiaomi has preferred smartphones with relatively large displays.

xiaomi-iphone-se-rival-leakedThis mystery Xiaomi smartphone was spotted in China with the leaked photo showing the front panel. One feature that is clearly visible is the physical home button under the display, which by the looks of it, could have a fingerprint scanner embedded into it, GizChina reports.

Apart from the 4.3-inch display, the leak says that upcoming Xiaomi smartphone features a HD (720p) display, Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820 chipset, 3GB of RAM, 32GB internal memory, and a 13-megapixel rear camera.

This smartphone is expected to go on sale sometime in June, and will be priced around 1,799 Yuan (Rs 18,300 approximately). If true, this Xiaomi smartphone will be one to look forward to, considering Android smartphones with small displays and top-notch specs are a rarity. It seems to be clearly aimed at Apple's iPhone SE, which too is offering flagship-level specifications and features in a very small form factor.

In the meantime, Xiaomi is gearing up to launch its flagship Mi 5 smartphone in India later this week. The company has already revealed that the upcoming smartphone will be priced between Rs 20,000 and Rs 27,000.

The Xiaomi Mi 5 is likely to be available in two variants — 32GB and 64GB. The 32GB variant features a 1.8GHz Snapdragon 820 chipset paired with 3GB of RAM, while the 64GB variant features a 2.15GHz Snapdragon 820 chipset paired with 3GB of RAM.

There is also a 3,000mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support, fingerprint scanner embedded into the home button, and connectivity options like dual-SIM card slots, 4G LTE support, Wi-Fi, IR Blaster, USB Type-C port and NFC.
