Samsung seems to be trying their best to keep their phones up to date and to remove the bad reputation of releasing slow updates. They have now released the February security patch for their flagship products just a few weeks after the update to Android 6.0 Marshmallow began rolling out for some phones.
The February security update is rolling across the Samsung Galaxy S5, S6, S6 edge, S6 edge+, Galaxy Note 4 and Note5. Devices in Asia, Australia, Europe,North America and South America will receive the update very soon.
The security updates will be a monthly update cycle that will bring about bug fixes and security loopholes. In this case, the Feb update brings about fixes for 10 security loopholes and 7 major vulnerabilities in Android including a Qualcomm Wi-Fi driver fix and an error that could've allowed hackers to remotely access your device by just a text message.
It is good to see that even non-Nexus phones are receiving such updates on a regular basis in order to have a more secure OS and ecosystem. Although the update is already seeding to the devices mentioned above in the specified regions, it may take a while before it comes to your particular handset. if you haven't enabled automatic checking of updates, you can go check it manually in Settings > About Device > Updates.
