Samsung aims to 'redefine' smartphone capabilities with Galaxy S7

Samsung and LG both announced their flagship smartphones for 2016 this week, and both the LG G5 and Samsung Galaxy S7 feature microSD card readers... which wasn't a given.

Well, DisplayMate walked away more than impressed. Other than the size there is hardly seems to be a difference between the S7 and the S7 edge.

The Korean electronics giant unveiled its latest Galaxy S7 flagship smartphones with most advanced and favourite features. "We strive to deliver on that vision with the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge by marrying elegant design with functionality and providing a seamless mobile experience", explains D J Koh, Samsung's new president of Communications Business. The Galaxy S7 boasts an IP68 environmental rating.

The first time you try to use a microSD card as adopted storage, your phone would also reformat the card, erasing any data you may have.

It's too early to say which phone is better.

The display remains 5.1 inches and 1440p, similar to that in the S6, but Samsung included a faster Snapdragon 820 processor in the S7.

Samsung's new Galaxy S7 is equipped with a 5.1-inch display touting a 2,560x1,440-pixel resolution and a 12MP camera. Battery duties are taken care of by 3 000mAh and 3 600mAh in the S7 and S7 Edge respectively. Now, gadget lovers are asking when they would get their Android Marshmallow software. With the iPhone, you hard press on an app icon.

Samsung wanted to ensure the smartphones were compatible with existing Gear peripherals like the VR headset, which was a big reason they did not include the USB Type-C port, a company spokesman said.

This handy camera is a 13MP device that records photos and videos in 360-degrees and allows you to export the videos to your LG device or upload to YouTube as a 360-degree video or even to Google StreetView. Samsung is releasing a new VR-friendly product capable of capturing 360-degree videos.

Get a complimentary Gear VR (Virtual Reality) on pre-ordering the phones. The annual Mobile World Congress will start tomorrow February 22 hosting some of the world's largst communication companies, with many unveiling their last phones and gadgets.
