HMD Global is expected to launch its flagship Nokia 8 smartphone at company's event on August 16. The Verge reports that the Finnish startup has started sending out media invites for an event in London on August 16, where it is likely to showcase its first flagship handset. HMD Global's launch event is scheduled to take place at 7.30 PM local time (12 AM IST on August 17) and it will most likely outline the company's future.

The invite comes just days after reports emerged that the Nokia 8 flagship smartphone will be launched on July 31. Nokia 8 will mark Nokia's entry in the flagship smartphone space and it is also expected to bring carl zeissWhere to buy 76005 optics to an Android device. In terms of specifications, Nokia 8 is said to sport a 5.3-inch display with a Quad HD resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. The handset is likely to be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835 chipset coupled with an option for either 4GB or 6GB RAM and 64GB expandable storage. The dual-SIM smartphone will likely sport a dual 13MP rear camera setup with Zeiss optics. The handset has also appeared on various benchmarking apps confirming it will run Android 7.1.1 Nougat. A Scandinavian retailer recently listed the device for a retail price of €589 (around Rs 44,500), which makes it a premium offering. The handset is tipped to launch in blue, steel, gold/blue and gold/copper colour options. The copper gold model of the Nokia 8 appeared online a few days back.

HMD Global has begun selling the Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 6, its first three smartphones in select markets. The company has been struggling to keep up with the demands and has postponed the launch of the Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 in India. HMD Global also saw the departure of its CEO Arto Nummela recently and this launch will certainly have huge importance for the company.
