Xiaomi Redmi Pro vs Oppo F1s: two beautiful smartphones, one with 10-core processor while the other is a selfie expert – both are under $260

Xiaomi Redmi Pro is expected to be released very soon; they recently launched a teaser event. It got the whole world talking and seems to be destined to be a great hit. That will be the future, but what we can tell you so far is that, Xiaomi have sold more than 110 million smartphones worldwide, and that number is set to grow tremendously in the next couple of years.

Judging by the specs alone, the Redmi Pro packs a great punch in terms of raw processing power. For so little amount of money, you will get the top-of-the-line chipset, 10-core processor that is blazingly fast and 3GB RAM.

Wrapped in a brushed aluminum body and featuring 2.5D curved glass on it, you can be sure that Redmi Pro looks great and feels even better when you touch it.

Screen-wise, there's the Full HD OLED screen which allows for some pretty great images being projected onto the screen. Enjoy all your favorite videos on it. Even the simple things in life, such as browsing the web are made so much fun with it.

As for its primary camera, the dual 13MP+5MP camera lets you take amazingly good photos with a lot of depth on each shot. The 13MP Sony IMX 258 sensor shoots still images while the 5MP Samsung camera captures depth information. The result - outstanding DSLR-quality bokeh with its dual camera shooting simultaneously. Packed with great features and functions, it wins hands-down in this category.

On top of all that, the Redmi Pro will be running on the latest Android Marshmallow OS and a great 4050 mAh battery to power it up. This provides greater value out of your money.

But don't go on making your decision just yet, without taking a look at its competitor for today. So without further ado, let's find out all we can about the F1s as per below:

  • 5.5-inch HD IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with 720 x 1280 pixels or ~267 ppi pixel density
  • Metal body
  • Fingerprint sensor
  • Gorilla Glass 4
  • Mediatek MT6750 chipset, Octa-core 1.5 GHz Cortex-A53 processor, Mali-T860MP2 graphics and 3GB RAM
  • 13MP primary camera with f/2.2 aperture, phase detection autofocus and LED flash
  • 16MP selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture and 1/3.1" sensor size
  • 32GB internal storage + microSD expansion slot up to maximum 256GB
  • Non-removable Li-Po 3075 mAh battery
  • Android Lollipop 5.1
  • Dual-sim and 4G LTE
  • $269 USD price tag
  • F1s is indeed beautiful with its metal body and slim profile that is made even better with the 2.5D glass. The metallic band at its edge further highlight that it has all the right curves in all the right places. Holding it in your hands just feels great.

The fingerprint sensor can be unlocked in just 0.22 seconds which makes it very snappy, sensitive and durable all at the same time. You can now do more in less time. Then there's the Gorilla Glass 4 which provides that extra protection which is extremely valuable.

Regarding hardware, the F1s has a pretty decent chipset, mid-range octa-core processor with 3GB RAM. This is the sweet spot which puts it nicely in the mid-range segment. No complaints here at all.

If there's a reason not to be happy with the F1s, then it would be its High Definition screen. With a 5.5-inch size, surely anything lesser than a Full HD resolution is unforgiveable. So sad but true.

Another downside for the F1s, is on its dated Android Lollipop 5.1. Although the latest Marshmallow 6.0 OS has been out for a good few months now, it is sorely missing on this smartphone. Let's hope Oppo can buck up pretty soon, or it will be a tough one.

Finally, we have saved the best for last and let's talk about its greatest feature which makes it THE selfie expert. It is a fact that it has a 16Megapixel selfie camera which is better than its primary camera which is fitted with a 13 Megapixel snapper. How wonderful is that?

The hardware is already great, the software is even better. With Beautify 4, it allows you to capture the very best looks from your selfies. Blemish reduction has been refined to ensure a beautiful, natural-looking shots that is also eye-catching at the same time.

It also comes with its set of filters; that lets you play around with the settings. This allows for greater creativity, and you can even watermark it with time, date, temperature and more.

Another cool feature on the F1s is the Selfie Panorama. Simply rotate the selfie camera and it will stitch together for a wide-angle selfie. More details and more people can join in the fun inside your selfie shots.

    Conclusion:

There's always going to be Xiaomi Redmi Pro becoming the champion of providing us with flagship smartphone without any of its flagship price. No wonder they have been selling like hot cakes over the years. Great design, great hardware especially with the 10-core processor, great primary camera, great storage and great battery really makes all the difference. And did we mention it is also cheaper by $USD 10?

Xiaomi Redmi Pro is expected to be released very soon for an amazing price of $259 USD. It will be available in Silver, Gold, and Gray.

Oppo F1s lives up to its name of the Selfie Expert. If you are looking for the best selfie smartphone, then this is it. It goes to great length to carry that title, but that's not all to the device though. It is a good mid-range device although it gets bogged down by the HD resolution and dated Lollipop OS. If you can forgo these two, then you are in for a blast in taking selfies like an expert.

Oppo F1s is currently available for pre-order for approximately $269 USD and is set to hit the market anytime soon. It will be available in Gold, Rose Gold, and Gray.
